Use this guide to learn how to add details that will help others better understand how to use your Blox.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Tagging your Blox helps other educators search and filter to find other Blox that they can use as-is or adapt for their classes.
1. To tag a Blox, start by clicking the ▪▪▪ on the pink tag icon to open the Blox details window.
2. You will be prompted to share details about your Blox. These details refer to the whole Blox, not just one activity within it. You are not required to complete all fields.
3. You can share details about skills aligned to the activities in your Blox. Every activity in your Blox from the SkillBlox library has been aligned to topic areas. You can select the skills that your Blox focuses on from the list provided, or select + Add new skill to select from the full skills list.
If your Blox includes activities from the library, you will automatically see subject-specific skills that the activities in your Blox align to. These are automatically populated based on the activities that you've added from the library. Click on the checkbox next to the skills that are most relevant. For example, in this Blox, "Solve Multi-Step Problems" is the core theme.
If you haven't added any activities from the library, you'll click + Add Skill to manually add skills from Math, Digital Literacy, Health Literacy, Financial Literacy, Civics Education, and Workforce Preparation.
4. You can share details about the suggested learner level and academic, language, and TSTM skills that the Blox builds.
Note: You can select more than one option for each of these tagging categories.
Learner and Learning Focus
Learner Level(s) - Choose from ABE, ASE, and ESOL levels.
Academic/Language Skill(s) - Select from math and various language skills.
Skills that Matter - Choose from the 9 central skills of the TSTM framework.
5. You can provide details about the format of the Blox.
Ready for students?
Indicate whether the Blox is self-guided. Choose "yes" if the Blox is ready to share with students to complete independently.
Blox Format
Select the intended use of the Blox:
Structured Lesson - The Blox is a sequenced set of activities to be completed in a particular order
Activity/Resource Set - An unstructured collection of activities to extend learning
Instructor Reference - An unstructured collection for educators to reference
6. For anything you tag, you need to click Save to save your tags! You can exit at any time if you decide you want to continue tagging later. You can also re-tag if you make changes to your Blox.
Now, make sure your Blox is public so other users can find your Blox and know how it fits with their goals. 🎉 Bravo!
